Walija Cottage

Accommodation Information

Tucked away amongst the 100 year old cyprus pines on a small acreage, sits this quaint two bedroom hideaway with history dating back well over 100 years. Once known as OB Flat Post Office in times past, a run down and neglected building previously resided in by a local family.

This building has been lovingly put back together by current owners and willingly shared with any one happy to simply sit and ponder or get out and about the limestone coast.
The cosy, yet quite spacious cottage appealing to the family where the kids can enjoy their own room with 2 single beds, toys, books, movies and even the xbox and playstation (if appropriate). Outside there are bikes to ride, trampoline and plenty of space to kick the footy or win the ashes with a bash of cricket. For the adults you're not forgotten, with Queen size bed (quality linen and superb mattress), TV and locally made rustic furniture.

Outside we've created the perfect gathering spot for a quiet glass of red next to the open fire, and for those warmer days the overhanging pines provide fabulous shelter. The unique rural surrounds gives plenty of privacy and seclusion for those hard earned getaway's or stopover. Once the hunger pains kick in, the BBQ can be flicked into gear or if that's not quite what you're after. How about a 2 minute stroll to a local restaurant (The Barn Steakhouse) for a delicious meal?

Walija Cottage is available for short or long term accommodation. The living area is compact with slow combustion fire, reverse cycle air conditioner, TV, DVD and stereo and comfortable couches. Bathroom is shared with the laundry and leads right outside, through French doors, extending the entertainment area to alfresco living. The kitchen is equipped with all you need to cook up a storm and provisions supplied for continental breakfast.

A short distance away is the renowned crayfish town of Port MacDonnell, or the Glenelg River at Nelson with National parks and drive and stop spots. In the other direction are the local wineries and the infamous terra rossa soils of the Coonawarra region..
